Laguna Esmeralda Express Trek – Summer

This adventure is a round-trip trek to Laguna Esmeralda in Ushuaia, covering approximately 10 km.

Along the trail, you walk through native lenga and ñire forests, typical of Tierra del Fuego. You will encounter crystal-clear streams, small valleys, and waterfalls formed by meltwater rivers. The route also crosses meadows and peat bog areas that lead to the lagoon, where the ground changes in texture and color, becoming darker and wetter.

Upon reaching Laguna Esmeralda, the landscape opens up to reveal emerald-green waters surrounded by mountains and glaciers. It is an atmosphere of total calm, where the reflection of the mountains can be clearly seen in the water.

Throughout the entire hike, guides accompany the group and share information about the local geography and wildlife.

Approximate schedule:
10:00 AM – Pick-up
11:00 AM – Start of the trek
12:30 PM – Arrival at the tree line
1:30 PM – Arrival at the lagoon
1:45 PM – Snack
2:30 PM – Return
3:00 PM – Arrival at the vehicle
4:30 PM – Return to Ushuaia

Important Information / Notes
There are no technical difficulties, but a reasonable physical condition is required.
Bring 1 liter of water per person, as the water along the route is not 100% drinkable.
Avoid disposable plastics and reuse bottles.

Essential clothing:
Warm jacket
Extra socks
Waterproof trekking boots
Hat, buff, and gloves

Not recommended: cotton pants, regular sneakers, or thin windbreakers.

All participants are insured. It is mandatory to complete a medical form and an activity agreement, and to inform any special needs. The guide may restrict participation for those who are not fit to join.
Minimum group size: 2 people.
The use of waterproof clothing and footwear is mandatory.
