Itinerary
Have you ever imagined experiencing what it’s like to be a mountaineer in the Andes?
The Ojo del Albino Glacier route offers a complete adventure with trekking, ending with lunch and a breathtaking view, plus a rest period before the descent.
The trail follows the traditional path to Laguna Esmeralda. After this stage, we continue with a slower and more controlled hike along the right shore of the lagoon.
Along the way, we will encounter obstacles such as fallen trees and old inactive beaver dams.
Leaving the vegetation line, we will climb to approximately 650 meters above sea level, across continuous terrain on the mountain slopes. At this point, the physical demand increases.
Next, the guide will lead us through the lightest and most beautiful section of the trail, crossing large and unstable rocks, ending at a natural terrace with views of Laguna Esmeralda and the Sorondo mountain range, from where it is possible to see Mount Olivia and its neighboring mountain, the Five Brothers.
At this point, we continue, and the mountain guide will be prepared with safety equipment such as ropes and carabiners to safely overcome any difficulties that may arise.
After that, we will enjoy a stunning view of the immense sea of ice that forms the glacier, with the Rhino Towers standing like sentinels behind it. While admiring this incredible landscape, we will enjoy a hot lunch to regain our strength before continuing the glacier crossing.
To finish our adventure, we will begin the descent along the same route, taking in the scenery with the attention it deserves.
