Itinerary

A delightful tour to observe sea lions, local birds, and the majestic Andes Mountains, whose combination with the sea provides an incredibly stunning view.

This navigation offers a unique perspective of what we call the “End of the World,” where the southernmost point is the Antarctic ice.

We board at the Ushuaia tourist port. The Beagle Channel is divided by an imaginary line separating Argentina and Chile. We navigate through Argentine waters while enjoying the mountains and islands on the Chilean side of the channel.

At the beginning of the navigation, we can already enjoy the beautiful Ushuaia Bay and observe the city’s privileged location, surrounded by magnificent mountains and glaciers.

This view, besides being beautiful, also invites us to learn about Ushuaia’s history. As we admire the landscape, it’s easy to imagine the moment European ships arrived in the region and saw the various fire points that the natives used to keep warm, giving the area its name Tierra del Fuego.

Along the way, we pass Bird Island, where we admire several Fuegian seabirds, such as skuas, albatrosses, seagulls, cauquenes, and ducks.

We then arrive at the famous Sea Lion Island, home to two types of sea lions. You can also spot cormorants, which are often mistaken for penguins.

Continuing the navigation, we reach the iconic Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, where other cormorant colonies can be found, both imperial and rock cormorants.

Throughout the tour, the guide shares local history and explains details about the animals and islands we see.

We return along the Argentine coast, passing Playa Larga until reaching the port.

Notes / Observations

  • We disembark at Bridges Island for a walk when weather conditions allow.

  • It is necessary to arrive 30 minutes early to pay the port fee before boarding.

  • The tour route may be partially or fully altered due to mechanical and/or weather issues (cancellations may occur). In case of an unexpected land return, the arrival point will be at the tour service desk.
