Darwin Experience: Kayaks and Adventure

Imagine navigating the waters that Darwin explored nearly 200 years ago. The Santa Cruz River offers pristine landscapes and diverse wildlife that inspired the naturalist and attract visitors from around the world.

We pick up adventurers from their hotels (check if your accommodation is approved by local tourism authorities) and drive in a 4×4 along the iconic Route 40 until reaching the Santa Cruz River, sharing stories along the way to prepare for the adventure.

At the support point, we hold an informative briefing, gear up with dry suits, life jackets, boots, and gloves, and embark on double kayaks for an approximately 15 km river journey. Along the way, you’ll see geological formations and native wildlife, following in Darwin’s footsteps.

After the kayak ride, we arrive at the Patagonian Estancia “El Rincón,” where we enjoy a full lunch by the river, including starter, main course, dessert, and drinks, reflecting on the experience of traveling the same river as Darwin.

We then return to El Calafate, concluding an unforgettable Patagonia adventure.

• Guests not wishing to kayak can travel by 4×4 to the estancia and join the lunch for 50% of the full tour price.
• Tours may be canceled in case of strong winds.
• Lunch includes: focaccia with eggplant dips, provoleta with tomatoes, salads, Argentine-style beef, chocolate mousse, and drinks.
