Itinerary
The Blue Safari was designed for those who want to sail in front of the Perito Moreno Glacier and dream of getting very close to the ice.
The excursion begins in the city of El Calafate, with departure by bus to Los Glaciares National Park. Upon arriving at Puerto Bajo las Sombras, located just 7 km from the walkways, we will cross Lake Rico by boat and, after about 20 minutes of navigation, disembark on the opposite shore.
We will then take a 30-minute walk, always keeping our eyes on the southern wall of the glacier, as spectacular ice break-offs may occur. Upon reaching the ice, we will enjoy an unforgettable experience, admiring the intense and varied shades of blue and white and the glacier’s fascinating shapes.
There will be time to take many photos and, shortly after, we will return to the embarkation point, always accompanied by an experienced guide. The total walking time is approximately 1.5 hours over natural terrain of sand and stones, with some slopes and stairs. Along the 1.5 km route, we will walk along the lakeshore and cross a forest of lush trees with views of the glacier.
Finally, we will return to the boat to enjoy, from the water and just a few meters away, the southern face of the glacier and observe every detail of its icy, marbled wall.
Upon arriving back at the port, we will depart by bus to the walkways to enjoy two hours of incredible panoramic views. Passengers may use this time to eat the snacks they must bring from the city of El Calafate.
After crossing the Patagonian steppe, we will return to El Calafate with our souls filled with the natural energy of this unique glacier. We look forward to being your hosts!
The Blue Safari takes place in a natural environment where weather conditions and the characteristics of the glacier and its surroundings change every day. However, the excursion is not suspended as long as safety conditions allow it.
